Portfolio

Image
For my final portfolio, I wanted to keep it pretty simple. The only colors I used was purple, black, and gray to make sure the pages don't look too busy. I wanted the colors to be darker to make the work on the pages stand out.  I used a cute font for the titles to have a consistent theme and have flower designs throughout the portfolio for a personal, feminine touch.

Business Cards

Image
For my first logo, I used primary colors, so I wanted the business card to be simpler. I used gray and white for the background and blue for my name to make my logo really pop out.     My second logo had three different colors, so I made the background black and white checker print. I thought it would be interesting to put the information in different boxes to incorporate the colors in the logo.     My last logo was pink and purple, so I wanted to make a girly business card. I chose a pink background (inspired by Elle Woods's resume) to compliment the purple type for my information.

Autoscopy

Image
I have recently discovered a lot about myself. For my autoscopy, I wanted to represent being human. I compared my body to space (using sun and moon shapes), yet made the human brain and heart the biggest aspects of my piece.       Humans are so small compared to space, or even the ocean. I put a lot of pressure on myself to be the best I can be, but my mental health can sometimes stand in the way. That's why I'm trying to take everything less seriously, because we're all humans and we all make mistakes.

Black and White to Color

Image
For this picture, I used split complimentary colors. I was inspired by the primary colors to make my dog and and I stand out from the background and each other.     I used double split complementary colors for this piece. I was inspired by sunset vibes with this palette. For this picture, I used a triad of colors. I wanted my dog and I to stand out from the background and have a ghostly feeling to us.

Tag Brush

Image
For my tag brush, I wanted it to look messy, but also have a darker tint to it. I wanted the outside of the logo to be lighter on the left and darker on the right since the logo has such a sharp contrast between the black circle and white cloud. For the color piece, I wanted the colors to be gloomy to match the cloud, but also a bit feminine to be representative of me.

Self Portrait Poster

Image
I wanted to make my propaganda poster about environmentalism. Saving the planet is a big topic right now with global warming, pollution, industrialism, etc. and many global authorities aren't concerned about the state of the planet. Earth is our only home and we need to protect it.     I decided to use my selfie to personify Mother Earth. I changed the colors to blues and greens to match earth and added a black background with white lettering to capture the viewer's attention. I wanted my poster to look minimalistic with little dimension and color variation to keep it simple and to the point.

Logos

Image
Nature never fails to inspire me. As an artist, I put a lot of organic thought into my work and that’s why I decided to have a nature themed logo. I chose a sun and cloud since weather is constantly changing, just like humans.      When it comes to colors, I find myself having a deep connection to the primary colors. I think the combination of red, blue, and yellow is just so satisfying to the eyes and I thought it would look well with my sun and cloud. My second color logo was inspired by the sunset. I wanted to the sun and cloud to be warm tone yellow and pink, while the letters are a bit cooler (purple) to stand out. My last color logo was also inspired by the sunset, but at a different time. The deep blue cloud and pink sun represent the last few minutes of daylight before the nighttime.

Illustrator Tutorials

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GzumUieDPY This tutorial was pretty straight forward. I understand how to use most of the basic tools showed in this video, however I can see myself having trouble with editing using the keyboard keys. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZP6RQu_F6U I like this tutorial, because I like drawing on paper and the transfer process seems simple. I feel like I have a better understanding of the pen tool, which will be useful. I will probably refer back to this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j69a3-shkGE I believe I will be using the pen tool a lot in my projects. This tutorial goes in depth explaining the pen tool, which I like.

Canvas

I created this piece in Dreamweaver using codes. I've been inspired by basic shapes recently, but my main inspiration behind this piece was life and cells. Plant cells and animal cells are pretty different and I wanted to represent this by using cool or warm colors. Although cells are random and uncontrollable, I wanted to present them in a linear, geometric way to give it more of an abstract feel, without being too crazy.     A separate piece that inspired me to do this is Negative Optic Electric Force, Positive Optic Electric Force, by Alfred Jenson. The mathematical gestures are appealing to look at, which I tried to incorporate in my own piece. I also like the varying colors used. I wanted to add lines, as well as a gradient background, to add more movement and depth to the piece. My code: <!doctype html> <html> <head> <meta charset="UTF-8"> <title> -.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.- </title> <!-- import ...
